There are five primary roles in League of Legends. While four of those roles go into various lanes and farm minions or get kills to gain XP, junglers need to go into the jungle and fight neutral monsters.
These monsters can be found across the map on both sides and give various amounts of XP. As a jungler, experience matters a lot since it can increase the damage of your Smite and help you secure objectives. That is why this guide will show you how much XP jungle camps give.
Each jungle camp gives a varying amount of XP that has been changed by Riot Games over the years. For example, the Raptors will give 85-114.75 XP based on their level.
If you want to know exactly how much XP each jungle camp gives and how much XP is needed for a champion to level up, continue reading to find out.
We will also talk about how some of the neutral monsters work so that you will have an easier time killing them. With that said, let’s take a look at how much XP jungle camps give in League of Legends.

How Much XP Do Jungle Camps Give?

Jungle camps give varying amounts of XP and it increases the more times you kill them. If you kill a camp the first time, that specific camp will level up and come back stronger the next time it spawns.
This is to ensure that you are getting the correct amount of XP as the game progresses. Also, that jungle camp becomes stronger by having more HP, higher stats, and higher damage as well.
There are six main camps on both sides of the jungle. The enemy will also get the same camps as you but they will be on the other side of the map. You can invade their jungle and try to steal their camps so that they lose XP while you gain extra. However, that can be quite risky as the enemy team can follow up and kill you.
If you want to know about each individual camp and how much XP it gives, we have listed them down in the table below.
Camp | Total Gold | Experience | Spawns At | Respawns In |
Raptors | 85 | 85-114.75 based on monsters level | 1:30 | 2:15 minutes |
Murk Wolves | 95 | 95-128.25 based on monsters level | 1:30 | 2:15 minutes |
Krugs | 131 | 153-206.55 based on monsters level | 1:42 | 2:15 minutes |
Gromp | 90 | 135-182.25 based on monsters level | 1:42 | 2:15 minutes |
Blue Sentinal | 100 | 110-148.5 based on monsters level | 1:30 | 5:00 minutes |
Red Brambleback | 100 | 110-148.5 based on monsters level | 1:30 | 5:00 minutes |
Rift Scuttler | 70-126 based on monsters level | 115-207 based on monsters level | 3:15 | 2:30 minutes |
Each jungle camp is unique and some of them gives you special buffs as well. For example, the Red and Blue buffs allow you to take their powers when you kill them for some time.
They make you stronger and allow you to help your team more effectively. The Rift Scuttler can be found in the river. It is often contested by both junglers so make sure that you are prepared for it.
On top of that, you can also kill the dragons, Baron, and Rift Herald for your team to gain more XP as well. Each of them gives different amounts of XP and they are quite useful for your team.
For example, if you get the dragon soul, your team will gain a massive advantage and will win more fights. Plus, your stats will also increase as well.

What is Smite?

If you are planning to pick a jungler, you need to know what Smite is. It is a summoner spell – like Flash – that is extremely important for all junglers.
Without this, you cannot farm properly in the jungle and will lose the game. Smite allows you to kill the neutral monsters when they are below a certain HP. It deals 450 damage on level 1 and it goes higher as you level up.
Plus, it allows you to easily secure objectives such as dragons and Baron. Plus, having Smite allows you to buy the jungle item that gives you unique effects.
One of the biggest advantages of that item is that you will gain bonus XP when you kill jungle monsters. This ensures that you do not fall behind in experience.

How Much XP is Needed to Level Up?

Now that we know how much XP the jungle camps give and what Smite does, let us take a look at how much experience a champion needs to level up. The maximum level in League of Legends is 18 and you cannot go higher.
The only exception is if you are playing another game mode such as URF. When you reach level 18, you will still gain XP but it will not do anything for you.
To reach level | XP | Total XP | Minion Waves |
1 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
2 | 280 | 280 | 2 |
3 | 380 | 660 | 3 |
4 | 480 | 1140 | 4 |
5 | 580 | 1720 | 6 |
6 | 680 | 2400 | 9 |
7 | 780 | 3180 | 11 |
8 | 880 | 4060 | 14 |
9 | 980 | 5040 | 18 |
10 | 1080 | 6120 | 21 |
11 | 1180 | 7300 | 25 |
12 | 1280 | 8580 | 30 |
13 | 1380 | 9960 | 34 |
14 | 1480 | 11440 | 39 |
15 | 1580 | 13020 | 45 |
16 | 1680 | 14700 | 49 |
17 | 1780 | 16480 | 54 |
18 | 1880 | 18360 | 60 |
While it might look like it takes a long time to reach level 18 since you need to farm 60 minion waves, you can earn XP in other ways as well. You can kill enemy champions, farm neutral jungle monsters, get objectives, and kill minions.
Also, remember that some items in the game require a certain level before you can buy or use them. This is done so that the players do not abuse the items and gain an unfair advantage. Some of these items include things like Elixers, Farsight Trinket, and more.
