How To Disable Voice Chat In League of Legends?

Voice chat is a crucial part of an online game to allow better communication. Riot Games added this highly requested feature after a long time to League of Legends. However, since players prefer Discord and other communication applications, we will show you how to disable voice chat in League of Legends.

While League Voice is an excellent feature in the game, it can get annoying if you automatically connect to it even though you are speaking with your friends on Discord. Plus, since you can only talk to people that are in your party, it doesn’t matter when you are playing solo.

To disable League Voice, you need to open Settings and go to the Voice tab. Once you are there, uncheck the “join voice automatically” option. Press “Done” to save your settings and you won’t randomly join voice chat anymore.

If you want to know about other ways in which you can disable the voice chat or how you can mute yourself in League of Legends, continue reading to find out. With that said, let’s dive right in and get started.

How to Disable League Voice

As aforementioned, there are a few methods that you can use to disable voice chat in League of Legends. Depending on where you are in the game, you can use one of these methods to close the chat and talk with your friends on other platforms.

In-Game

It can be problematic if you are already in the game but have the voice chat turned on. You might not want to talk to a certain person if they are raging or you just want to turn off your voice. In any case, worry not because you can disable voice chat even if you are in the game.

  1. Click on the Microphone icon next to your minimap on the right side.
  2. Click on the Telephone icon to disconnect from League Voice completely.
  3. Click on the Speaker icon in front of players’ names to mute specific players.

Alternatively, you can also manually disable the voice chat from the lobby or champion select screen. To do that, you need to:

  1. Join a Premade Party.
  2. Click on the Microphone icon signifying the League Voice.
  3. Click on the Telephone icon to disconnect from League Voice completely.

From the Client

The best way to permanently disable your voice chat is from the clients’ settings. While it involves more steps than turning off the chat from in-game, you never have to worry about randomly connecting to the voice chat if you disable it from the client.

To do this, you need to :

  1. Launch the League of Legends Client.
  2. Open Settings.
  3. Go to the Voice Tab.
  4. Uncheck the “Join Voice Channel Automatically” option.
  5. Click “Done” to save changes.

Now, you will never connect to the voice chat unless you click on the button. This way, you do not have to worry about randomly joining the chat if you don’t want to. Plus, even if you want to join the chat, you can easily do it by opening the microphone icon and clicking on the join button.

How to Mute Yourself or Others?

Finally, let’s take a look at how you can mute yourself if you need to leave the room or are talking to someone else. Plus, we will also show you how you can mute other players if you do not want to talk to them anymore or hear them at all.

Firstly, to mute yourself, you must:

  1. Open the League Voice by pressing the Microphone icon.
  2. Click on the small Microphone next to your name.
  3. Now, you will be muted until you click the icon again.

This is a handy feature that you can use if you are talking to someone else and do not want your friends to hear the conversation. Plus, it is extremely easy to unmute yourself as well.

Next up, let’s talk about how you can mute other players. The best part about League Voice is that you can mute specific players. There are multiple reasons why you would want to mute someone on your team.

They might be raging excessively over a mistake or are just making you feel uncomfortable. To mute specific players, you must:

  1. Open League Voice by pressing the Microphone icon.
  2. Click on the small Microphone next to the name of a specific player.
  3. Now, they will be muted until you unmute them again.

Conclusion

There you have it, that’s everything you need to know about how to disable League Voice and how to mute yourself or other players. League Voice is a great feature that is a welcomed addition to the game.

However, if you do not want to use it, Riot has made it extremely easy to completely disable the feature and allow you to continue using other voice chat platforms.
