Cassiopeia is a versatile mage in League of Legends. She has good movement speed and some crowd control and area of effect abilities. In any regular match, she would be a good pick.
However, you must be much more careful during champion selection in Solo Queue. Games in Solo Queue are considerably more intense than normal games. Each game counts towards your LP or League Points.
Losing games can cost you LP, and you can earn LP by winning games. Every choice you make, including Champion bans and Champion Selection, can either cost you LP or help you earn some more LP.
With this context in mind, how can we decide if Cassiopeia is a good choice for Solo Queue?

What Do You Need in Solo Queue?
As mentioned earlier, the stakes are higher in Solo Queue. Therefore, the champion you choose to play with should have a few qualities. Crowd Control and area of effect damage are helpful in teamfights.
The ability to escape can also come in handy in Solo Queue because it would be best if you don’t die too much in ranked. Depending upon the role you play and the enemy team’s composition, your choice can vary in each match.
In Solo Queue, the Mage you choose should be able to inflict significant burst damage or, at least, set up enemy champions for kills by your teammates.
What Cassiopeia is Good At
Cassiopeia gains movement speed at each level, thanks to her passive called Serpentine Grace. Although she can’t buy boots (she has no feet!) to enhance her movement speed, her passive scales her movement speed with increasing levels.
You might not need boots to increase movement speed at all. Two of her abilities poison enemies. Noxious blast poisons her enemies and also increases movement speed.
Miasma releases a cloud of poison that slows enemies down besides poisoning them. Both of these abilities have an area of effect damage. In other words, more than one enemy champion can be poisoned if they are in range.
Twin Fang is an ability that you should use on enemies that are poisoned by Noxious Blast and Miasma. If the poisoned enemy dies from Twin Fang, Cassiopeia will regain mana.
Otherwise, she will regain some health as a percentage of the damage dealt with by the enemy by Twin Fang. In other words, Cassiopeia can also sustain during the early laning phase and mid to late game.
Two of her abilities, Noxious Blast and Miasma, poison and damage multiple enemies in an area of effect. Twin Fang, however, is not an area of effect ability. It must be targeted. Her passive, as mentioned earlier, builds movement speed at each level.
Her ultimate, Petrifying Gaze, stuns enemies who are facing Cassiopeia and slows down enemies who are facing away from her. This is a crowd control ability and can practically stun the entire enemy team.
Since Twin Fang helps regain mana upon killing a unit, Cassiopeia can sustain in the laning phase for significant durations. You need to keep killing minions with Twin Fang, and your mana will not deplete rapidly.
To summarize, Cassiopeia is good at area of effect damage, crowd control, and sustaining in combat. She also gains movement speed as she levels up. In the late game, her movement speed is likely to be higher than most champions in the game.

What Cassiopeia is Not Good At
In the early laning phase, Cassiopeia might be at a disadvantage regarding movement speed because you can’t buy boots for her, and your opponent can. However, Cassiopeia will gain enough movement speed as the game progresses to make up for it.
So it would be best to be careful at the beginning of the game. Secondly, Cassiopeia does not have any ability that lets her escape easily from danger. In other words, she can’t teleport or jump to a location using her abilities.
You need to be more creative with your abilities and use her Miasma or Noxious Blast to stun enemies and escape. If you have used up your abilities and get caught by enemies, you don’t have a lot of options besides using Flash if it’s not already on a cooldown.
Cassiopeia also can not jump to an enemy’s location. When you are on the offensive, you must advance by capitalizing on her movement speed that scales up at each level.
And finally, Cassiopeia is a slightly more mana-hungry champion than your average Mage. It means if you don’t use Twin Fangs to regain mana, there is a chance you will run out of mana quickly.

While Cassiopeia offers many advantages, such as crowd control and area of effect abilities, playing with her also comes with disadvantages. The same is true of all champions.
Each champion needs to be played tactfully by relying on the champion’s strengths and keeping account of counters or weaknesses.
You can rely on Cassiopeia for enhanced movement speed late in the game and for reasonable crowd control and area of effect damage with abilities that stun and slow enemies. She is also good at regaining mana and regenerating health during combat.
That being said, Cassiopeia can suffer from a slight lack of movement speed early in the game. She also does not have any ability that lets her escape from danger quickly. If you have used Flash, your only chance of getting out alive from enemy attacks is to use your cc and AoE abilities to escape craftily.
If your team does not have cc and aoe damage otherwise, then Cassiopeia will be a welcome addition. If your team already has enough mobility, cc, and aoe damage, you may want to rethink picking Cassiopeia.
Ultimately, Cassiopeia can be a good choice for Solo Queue. This depends on your play style and the champion pick and bans on both teams.
