The start of season 12 paved the way for the season of the supports with great items that help them have great synergies with certain ADC’s. Items like the Evenshroud can be a devastating item when combined with an Ardent Censer. Kaisa is a very strong on-hit ADC that can demolish even the tankiest champions.
So support champions that can utilize the effects of the Evenshroud is a great pair for Kaisa. Champions with easy-to-hit crowd control abilities not only work great as a pair for Kaisa but also utilize the effects of the new season 12 items. These are the factors that you should consider when picking a support for Kai’Sa, and as of that, let’s get to our top 5 list.

5. Blitzcrank
Blitzcrank’s hook is a great ability to maximize the damage of Kaisa’s Icathian rain. This ability deals more damage to isolated enemies as it makes them receive the full damage of the spell. He also has great CC abilities and an ultimate that destroys the shields of champions making him a great counter to passive supports like Janna or Lulu.
Best Item for Blitzcrank
Evenshroud
This item makes enemies receive more damage every time they are under hard CC. Blitz’s hook is already a hard CC making him proc the effects of the item and this is also great if Kaisa has already evolved her Q.
Different Playstyle For Each Phase
Early Game Playstyle
Push fast and try to gain control over the bot lane brushes so you can fully utilize the threatening presence of your Hook. Enemies will cower behind their allied minions if you have the control of the bushes. Kaisa makes fast pushing possible with her Q so it is pretty much a guarantee that you can take the bot lane bushes right off the bat.
Mid Game Playstyle
Try to roam other lanes and stay in the shadows, buy control wards and oracle lens so you can destroy the wards on the sides of each lane. This is a great tactic because it is much easier to hit your hooks when enemies don’t see you. This works great for Kaisa as well because when Blitz comes back to bot lane, he can hide in bushes and initiate kills for Kaisa and enemies won’t even anticipate it.
Late Game Playstyle
Try to put as much vision as you can on the map as you can utilize this to counter assassins lurking in the shadows to burst Jinx. Being able to see enemies also gives Biltzcrank the upper hand of hooking them without preparation. Blitz’s hook is also a guaranteed kill as Kaisa’s late-game Q and on-hit damage is just insane.

4. Galio
It is pretty easy to dominate the bot lane with a Galio support. His OP engage and CC abilities come with strong burst damage making him great as a peel or engage support for Kaisa. His ult also synergizes with Kaisa’s ultimate, he can use it whenever Kaisa dashes towards the enemy backline with her ult. Not only will Galio’s ultimate give Kaisa bonus survivability, it also helps her kill enemies faster and more efficiently by giving her a CC support and a burst of damage.
Best Item For Galio
Evenshroud
Most support with CC abilities builds Evenshroud often now in season 12. This item is even strong with the likes of Galio. His ultimate will surely proc this item’s effect and his AOE CC abilities will make sure that all enemies affected by this item will receive insane amounts of damage.
Different Playstyle For Each Phase
Early Game Playstyle
Look for a fight when you reach level 3 as this is the power spike of Galio. His engage and tankiness is quite OP upon learning all three of his spells. Look for an engage if you have an HP advantage and Kaisa will surely follow up on your engage with her E or W. No ADC can run away from a Galio engage in the early game. Their only chance is if they use all of their summoner spells.
Mid Game Playstyle
Kaisa can easily tower dive with her ultimate especially if Galio has a Knight’s Vow or a Redemption. The shield that Kaisa casts on herself when she ults can be synergized with Galio’s damage reduction along with Knight’s Vow similar effect. Let Kaisa play aggressively if you can take enemies and know you have the upper hand based on team comp. This is great as Kaisa with a huge lead can snowball and later on 1v5 the opposing team.
Late Game Playstyle
Being a tanky champion, you are expected to engage and initiate fights in the late game. Your CC AOE abilities are great to lock enemies down so Kaisa can burst them down like an assassin. Don’t worry about the safety of Kaisa in the backline as you can easily ult her and protect her with your spells and utility items.
3. Thresh
CC and peel are what this support champion can give to Kaisa. He is also a great champion who does not lose value be it early or late game. His lantern is a great disengaging ability for Kaisa after scoring a takedown with her ultimate. His hook + lantern is a great initiating ability as well, he also has great roaming potential as he doesn’t lose value even if he falls behind in gold and exp, as long as he has his skills up Thresh can make a huge impact in the game.
Best Item For Thresh
Frozen Heart
This is a great item to increase the mana pool of Thresh so he can cast his spells more often. This is also a great item to perform tower dives and survive the basic attacks of the opposing ADC as this item reduces damage coming from basic attacks. It also has a very high bonus armor that synergizes with Thresh’s passive. Thresh can also build through armor items so he can be a great initiating vanguard champion.
Different Playstyle For Each Phase
Early Game Playstyle
Because you are a hook champion, you really need to establish lane dominance and gain control over the bushes. Much like Blitzcrank, an unexpected hook is very lethal to the opposing duo. Another reason to gain control of the bushes is, you threaten the enemy champion every time they are not behind their minions. This gives them additional stress when thinking about laning strategies.
Mid Game Playstyle
Try to find kills and extend your lane dominance by performing tower dives on low health champions. When done correctly, tower dives will send a message to the enemy ADC that they are not safe even under their towers and most likely will send their other laners in the bot lane. Thresh + Kaisa can easily deal with this situation as they have great damage potential and disengage abilities.
Late Game Playstyle
Thresh’s late-game stats becomes on par with carries as he can stack his stats with his passive. He will become a caster CC tank in the late game that can engage and lock enemies down while being the tank of his team. Build Gargoyle’s Stoneplate to extend your survivability even further.

2. Soraka
Passive support works great with Kaisa because she is a late-game champion. Try to pick this support if the enemy doesn’t have an aggressive early game. Passive support keeps her ADC healthy until her ADC reaches her power spike. Kaisa is an ADC that depends on item power spikes as her passives depend on her bonus stats.
Best Item For Soraka
Ardent Censer
Isn’t it obvious? It’s like this item is made for Soraka as she has a very low cooldown on her heal. She also has a global heal that heals all of her teammates giving all of them bonus on-hit damage and attack speed. The bonus on-hit damage also works great on Kaisa as she can build through an on-hit build if there are tanks in the enemy team.
Different Playstyle For Each Phase
Early Game Playstyle
Try to poke enemies with your Q and E but get one level of your heal just in case Kaisa needs it. Your pokes will be the main source of lane damage in the early game as Kaisa is too fragile in the laning phase to poke enemies, she also has a very short range so it’s dangerous for her to poke enemies.
Mid Game Playstyle
This is where this duo truly shines, Soraka’s enchantments and Kaisa’s mid-game damage along with her Icathian rain is great. Kaisa can fight enemies 1v1 and no matter what, her HP won’t fall below the half bar. Be careful however if enemies build a grievous wound item as it will dampen the strength of Soraka’s heals.
Late Game Playstyle
Stay behind your team and try to focus on Kaisa, be ready to heal her whenever she goes in on the enemy team, and assist her with the silence skill you have. If she engages an enemy in the late game, prepare to use your silence on that enemy. A simple silence can turn the tides of the battle

1. Alistar
Kaisa excels in 1v1 fights because of her Isolated Icathian rain that deals burst damage like an assassin. Alistar can easily isolate an ADC from his support by simply using headbutt on the support. Alistar is also a tanky champion that can take tons of damage thanks to his ultimate. This duo is also capable of tower dives because of their combined ultimates.
Best Item For Alistar
Randuin’s Omen
Chances are, the enemy ADC will be building crit items. Randuin’s Omen dampens the damage coming from critical hits and it also gives Alistar a huge armor boost making him better at tower dives. He can also use this item as a follow-up on his engage combo after his E stun to slow enemies down.
Different Playstyle For Each Phase
Early Game Playstyle
Once you have three of your skills, try to play aggressively if you think you can take the enemy team. Kaisa’s snowball potential starts when they achieve an early game kill so try to look for one. Be careful however because Kaisa is pretty squishy and loses against long-range champions like Ashe can Caitlyn.
Mid Game Playstyle
If Kaisa manages to secure a gold and exp lead against the enemy ADC, she can play very aggressively by performing tower dives with Alistar. Alistar is an excellent support that locks enemies down on one spot while taking tons of damage. Don’t worry about flanks though as Alistar can simply headbutt them away and Kaisa can even use her ultimate to self-peel.
Late Game Playstyle
Kaisa’s late game is insanely overpowered given that she has a lead and does not fall behind in the mid-game. She can easily hit enemies with her W and mark them for an ult. Once she ults and kills the enemy backline with her late-game damage and Isolated Icathian Rain, she can disengage with the E that turns her invisible or she can build an hourglass. Of course, Alistar needs to follow her if she does this so she can guarantee her survival.
