Bot Lane Guides5 Best Supports for Lucian in League of Legends

5 Best Supports for Lucian in League of Legends

Lucian is an ADC that relies so much in his animation cancels. His passive lets him shoot a second basic attack and this is where his combos basically revolve around. With proper items and high enough ability haste, Lucian can become a highly mobile champion that dashes around in circles against his enemies.

Support champions that synergize with his dash and 2 basic attack combos are the way to go here. Some champions feel like they are really made for Lucian, so let us take a look at 5 of the greatest support champions you can use to support Lucian.

5. Braum

Most League of Legends players know that Braum + Lucian bot lane is a very strong duo. Their Synergy is really strong and it all revolves around both of their passive abilities. Braum’s passive makes him put a stack of his ability on the enemy which stuns them after they’ve been hit three times after it’s been cast upon them.

Best Item For Braum

Knight’s Vow

Being a Braum support, you need to have a high movement speed so you can come to the rescue of your ADC every time they are being chased. Knight’s Vow gives Braum and Lucian bonus movement speed every time they approach each other. Not only does this item boost their movement speed but it also redirects some of the damage Lucian receives towards Braum so he takes the damage himself.

Different playstyle for each phase

Early Game Playstyle

Braum and Lucian have an extremely strong laning phase and should be played very aggressively. Braum should start with his Q and Lucian can either start Q or E, he just needs the ability to proc his 2nd shot passive so enemies can be stunned faster. Once you kill an enemy with this aggressive combo, you can easily take over the lane and keep the enemy duo out of the game.

Mid Game Playstyle

Still playing aggressively, find kills with Braum’s Q or any engage he does. Once he damages an enemy champion with any of his passive inflicting abilities, Lucian can easily dash towards that champion and proc Braum’s Stun. Braum can cast his ult just before the stun wears off for maximum CC duration.

Late Game Playstyle

If you manage to get a huge lead in the early – mid-game, do not slow down with your aggressive playstyle. The trick here is you need to finish the game as fast as you can because both Lucian and Braum’s value falls off in the far-late game. Both of their durability and damage fall behind most champions in the game.

4. Thresh

Another champion that works great with Lucian is none other than the one who imprisoned his wife. Thresh’s CC abilities keep enemies slowed and suppressed making it easier for Lucian to hit them with his ultimate ability. Thresh’s Lantern also allows Lucian to dive into enemies, be extremely aggressive and still survive.

Best Item For Thresh

Turbo Chemtank

Thresh’s hook engage is quite strong but it can also be hard to hit because of its slow travel time. Turbo Chemtank allows Thresh to close the gap between him and an enemy champion and stop them with his Flay. After using his E Thresh can now easily hook them with his Q seeing as how the enemy is slowed by Thresh’s flay or ultimate.

Different Playstyle for Each Phase

Early Game Playstyle

Try to play aggressively and control the tempo of the game by making sure you hit your hooks. Lead engages with a flay followed by a hook so enemies won’t be able to sidestep it. Once you hook an enemy, Lucian can easily follow it up with a quick animation cancel combo that can lead to a kill or a summoner spell burn.

Mid Game Playstyle

Roam other lanes with Lucian given that you crash your waves properly. Their roaming potential is quite strong seeing as how Thresh’s hook has a long-range and Lucian can dash and has a long-range on his ultimate. His passive also reduces the cooldown of his E making him dash more frequently, especially with a Navori Quickblade.

Late Game Playstyle

Lucian’s Late game with Thresh should be played strategically. His aggressive nature is not that effective anymore because enemies are not that squishy anymore. Thresh should play around with his hooks and flays to find kills and picks for Lucian.

3. Nautilus

Another champion with a hook, this is great for Lucian because hooks are straight skillshots that hard CC enemies hit with hit. It s great for Lucian simply because his ultimate is a straight skill shot making him hit enemies easier. Nautilus’ engage and CC potential is also quite strong making him great for a mobile champion like Lucian.

Best Item For Nautilus

Everfrost

I know, it’s an unusual item for Nautilus seeing as how he is a tank and a support champion. But the active effect of this item is really overpowered, knowing that this item also has a crowd control effect, Naut can use this to extend his CC durations even further making him chain more abilities in one engagement.

Different Playstyle for Each Phase

Early Game Playstyle

Nautilus also has a very strong early game damage with his hook and passive. At level one alone e already has an impressive crowd control combo which is super easy to use. His hook can then lead to a root which takes off basically a quarter of an enemy’s early game HP. Lucian can capitalize on this and take away even more HP from that enemy and depending upon the situation, it can even lead to a takedown.

Mid Game Playstyle

Most adc champions fear Nautilus’ engage because it takes very long before you can escape him. He also has a decent amount of damage that he can deal to help Lucian take enemies down faster. His ultimate also cannot be evaded because it is a targeted spell. If you think you can take on their ADC then engage as soon as you see them. There is no problem as Lucian can quickly finish them given that he has an early game lead.

Late Game Playstyle

Stand at the frontline and keep enemies from getting Lucian. Use your hook as a gap closer or a means to peel for Lucian. User your ultimate to initiate team fights as well as with your hook, don’t worry as you have your passive to protect Lucian if all your spells are down.

2. Blitzcrank

Just another hook champion that can guarantee Lucian’s ultimate hits a champion with all of its bullets. Blitzcrank is also hyper-aggressive support that can speed himself up so he can lock an enemy ADC down for a hook.

Best Item For Blitzcrank

Turbo Chemtank

Blitz’s W movement speed has a slow that comes after it, so the speed boost from this item is very much welcome to make up for the slow. Just like Thresh, it is better to hit your hook if the enemy is immobilized so you can use this item to rush towards the enemy ADC and rocket punch him before hooking him if he uses his flash to getaway.

Different Playstyle for Each Phase

Early Game Playstyle

Hide in bushes to surprise enemies with your hooks. If your Lucian is level 3 A hook is basically lethal and can be used to focus enemies that are squishy.

Mid Game Playstyle

Charge towards enemies with your W or your Turbo Chemtank, if you manage to pick one kill for Lucian it’ll be much easier for your team to win team fights. Keep doing this and focus your hooks on crucial members of the enemy team. If you are fighting over a dragon or any objective, your hook should be focused on the enemy jungler so you take down their ability to smite an objective. Be careful though because if you hook a fed jungler or a champion with high stats and KDA, you are just risking the lives of your entire team.

Late Game Playstyle

Nothing really changes from Blitz’s playstyle seeing as how his main value comes from his hook. Just try to analyze each situation and you should know which champion to hook so that it greatly benefits Lucian and your team.

1. Yuumi

A champion that increases most of your stats and even your movement speed is a champion that works really great on mobile champions. Yuumi has a very strong heal and enchant and her ultimate is also the best ability to help Lucian hit his enemies with his ultimate.

Best Item For Yuumi

Ardent Censer

Ardent gives Lucian bonus magic damage which is great knowing as how most of his damage come from his second shot passive. If he can proc the bonus magic damage effects of Ardent he would be able to take enemies down faster.

Different Playstyle for Each Phase

Early Game Playstyle

Keep poking enemies with your Q but do not do it so frequently that you lose all of your mana before reaching level 3. Only do so if you are planning on deleting all of their laning pots and if you are planning to go on an all-in early game exchange with Lucian and your Jungler.

Mid Game Playstyle

Keep clinging on Lucian as you give him higher offensive stats the longer the game goes. Set kills for him by catching enemies with your ultimate which greatly synergizes with Lucian’s ultimate as well.

Late Game Playstyle

Yuumi’s late game is not that impressive but the bonus stat he gives Lucian is. All you have to do is cling to Lucian, Q enemies he is chasing, and heal him every time he needs it and you’re good to go. After all, Yuumi is the most beginner-friendly champion in League of Legends
