What are Wards?
In simple words, Wards grant you sight. You might as well walk in blindfolded on the LoL map if you’re not going to use a ward during the game. You see, most of the map is covered in the fog of war. So, good luck trying to move your way around through it.
But that’s exactly where wards come in. These stationary objects allow you to see around the map as long as they don’t expire or an enemy destroys them.
Where to Ward in League of Legends?
Winning positions can look different depending on what lane you’re playing but today we’re here to talk about Bot Lane Ward locations only.
Best Bot Lane Warding Locations
The river bush closest to the team’s turret is a popular Ward location in Bot Lane for most players on both teams. Most of the time, the Support will set up their Control Ward in that location. My advice to you would be to keep this as an ADC’s location.
This way your ADC can cause some serious damage while the Support can set up Control Ward further up the river. This gives the added advantage of seeing the Dragon Pit and jungle ganks.
That said, don’t take river bush as the only winning location. You can switch up to side bushes or even deep wards on the river for some games.
You can also try out some troll bot combos to spice things up.
Where to Ward In Bot Lane – Red Team?
If you end up on the Red Team, your best bet is to ward river or tri-bush. Any of these two will work especially if you’re in a tight spot. That said, steer clear of the tri-bush if you’re winning. It works best as a defensive position only.
Don’t go off placing any Control Wards in the enemy’s tri-brushes either because the minute the battle starts going sideways, your enemies will clear the ward and it’ll all be for nothing.
Where to Ward In Bot Lane – Blue Team?
If you’re on the blue team, then warding on both locations will give you the upper hand. The tri-bush is a life-saver for the blue team. You can go for the bush itself or further towards the Dragon.
Both Vision and Control Wards are good to do. Vision Wards will let you know if your enemy is making a go for the Dragon or doing the Scuttle Crab. Controls Wards will alert you of any enemies lurking in the river.
If you play your cards right, you might even gank the enemy Mid Lander from behind. And while you’re at it, make sure to place a ward in the furthest bush from your current position. That would take care of any opponents trying to sneak up on you from that position. You can see which fun bot lanes combos you can try out to do some real damage.
How to Ward Over the Wall in Bot Lane?
If you want to ward over the wall in bot lane, simply place one ward at the wall’s edge. Right where the player is standing in the picture below. You’ll see the location for the second ward as well.
The third ward can go here.
Tips for Putting Wards in Bot Lane
Here are some tips to help you better decide where to place your wards in bot lane:
- If you’ve got Vayne then go for the bushes in lane. You’ll see some spectacular E stuns.
- If you’ve got a jungler on the opposing team, then you might want to place a pink ward in the bush near the entrance of the blue buff from the riverside. This will reveal the jungle in that area and help your jungler keep his eye on the enemy jungler.
- When you’re approaching bushes, make sure to think of creative angles – ones that help you avoid being instantly killed. It’s a calculated risk that might pay off.
Conclusion
At the end of the day, Bot Laners sees a lot of traffic so you will have to be on your toes. You can read about why bot lane always feeds to get a better sense of things. Beginners might fight it daunting but you will be able to clear a way once you figure out how to ward.

Hamza, your blog post really resonated with me, especially your take on the importance of self-awareness in personal growth. It reminded me of the time I took a solo trip to the Himalayas for self-discovery. Do you think solitude can be an effective catalyst for self-awareness? Additionally, I’d like to suggest that meditation can also be a powerful tool for self-reflection. I remember when I started meditating, it opened up a new level of understanding of my own thoughts and emotions. Would love to hear your thoughts on this. Keep up the good work!
