OP.GG is a popular website that allows you to track the progress of any profile of League of Legends and other games. You can select the region of your account and search it to see the overall stats of that profile. This is extremely useful to check during the champion select screen so that you know what type of players are on your team. Plus, you can even use it to spectate your favorite players or people that are not added to your friends’ list.
However, some players have reported that they are having difficulties spectating other players using OP.GG. This can be either due to maintenance on their end or some other issue. That is why this guide will show you how to fix OP.GG spectate not working problem.
To fix the OP.GG spectate not working problem, you need to make sure that you have the latest League client and the path is correctly set to where your client is located.
While you can use the client itself to spectate anyone that is on your friend’s list, you need to use OP.GG to spectate professional players that might be playing the game to practice for the upcoming tournaments. With that said, let’s dive right in and find out how to fix OP.GG spectate not working problem.
What is OP.GG?
Before we begin, let’s take a look at what is OP.GG and why is it a useful tool for any League player. OP.GG is a website that allows you to search for any player in any region of League. You can see their match history, win rate, most played champions, rank, and much more. This is a great way to check if the player is comfortable playing the role that they are assigned or if you need to swap with them.
Plus, checking your team’s OP.GG is useful since you can know which player will have a higher chance to carry the game and which player will need a lot of help to survive the laning phase. Since your teammates in the solo queue will most probably not be added to your friends list, you need to use OP.GG to know details about them.
How to Spectate/Fix Spectating Issues
Now that we know what OP.GG is, let’s find out how you can spectate so that you know what you’re doing. First of all, you need to make sure that your League of Legends client is up to date or you won’t be able to spectate or watch any replays. Since Riot Games only allows you to spectate or watch replays through their client, it is important that you have it in your system.
On top of that, you also need to set a path to allow OP.GG to know where your client is located. If you do not know how to set the path, worry not because we’ve got you covered. You need to download and install the client and log into it. Once it is opened, you need to right click the icon in the taskbar and click on properties. Then, copy the directory it is located in. Now, open the OP.GG website and click on “setting LOL location” and paste the directory.
If you want to find an easier and simple method of the aforementioned way to set your League client location, we will explain that below:
- Launch League of Legends and log in
- Right-click on the icon in the taskbar
- Open “Properties”
- Copy the “Target:” path (Do not copy after “Riot Games/League of Legends”)
- Open the OP.GG website
- Click on “Setting LOL Location”
- Paste the path you copied in step 4
- Click Confirm
- Open the .bat file and you are good to go
Now that you have set the path and ensured that everything is up to date, you can head over to the OP.GG website and click on “Pro matches” or “Live game”. Once you do that, you will get an option to spectate by pressing a button. After clicking that button, you will be prompted to download a .bat file. Download it and you will be able to spectate or watch the replay of any game you want.
